Retailer Dermot Lyons who has been with MACE for over 18 years with his stores at MACE Castlerea and MACE Carnmore, recently opened a third store in the Roscommon area, MACE Castlerea Filling Station in December of 2024.

The store was given a major refurbishment by local tradesmen over a three-month period, opening its doors as MACE in March of 2025 and boasting a 1,500sq ft space and fully serviced forecourt. Dermot notes. “Everything is designed for the best customer experience in a bright, clean, and airy atmosphere.”

The store was given a complete redesign with state of the art fixtures and appliances tailed to give a premium customer experience. New services include a Smooch ice cream counter, two Bewley’s coffee stations, hot and cold “for food’s sake” deli and a unique aspect for this location; a forecourt attendant to assist customers with refuelling and maintaining standards. An off-licence is also in development and is expected to open soon.

Dermot said “Many of our staff know our customers by name. That personal connection makes a huge difference. Our staff are a dedicated team committed to giving all our customers from the community and beyond excellent service. This is our main priority.”
